Good Deeds at Work – Ripley’s Aquarium

Aug 09, 2019

On July 26, 2019, some of the team from WGames Inc. took a trip to Ripley’s Aquarium with an enthusiastic group of kids from the Newcomer Women’s Services Toronto. The initiative was one of many which were pitched and voted on by WGames employees during an office-wide “Good Deeds Hackathon”, and ultimately won!

Newcomer Women’s Services was founded in 1983 by Latin American Refugees in an effort to help immigrant women and men become a part of a bigger community. Volunteers and community partners help provide skills development, settlement services, language training, and employment as well as children’s programs to help families settle into a new country more easily. All their services are completely free and volunteer-based.

It’s tough moving to uproot your entire life and move to a completely new country where you do not know anyone. This is why WGames Inc. wanted to recognize Newcomer Women’s efforts as well as welcome and support these new families to Canada. A trip to Ripley’s Aquarium was the perfect way to give these hardworking families a break to just enjoy life.

The families at Newcomer Women were joined by our team members Ivan, Kfir and Kenny. We hope everyone had an amazing time with their families! Because when things get tough, we need to just keep swimming and these strong families are doing just that.
